NYFW SS16: Francesca Liberatore

Liberatore’s 2nd year at NYFW debuted at the new Skylight at Monyihan Station, formally the old Post Office on Sept 12  in the heart of NYC.

The line was a steady stream of bold oranges, sangria, pinks and black and white where the shows theme centered around the various facets of the heart. Figuratively to express whether it be love, hate, desire, dominate and more, to explore all of the heart’s capacity was the inspiration for Liberator’s spring/summer 2016 collection.

Silk chiffons and tulle with hand drawn hearts highlighted by delicate embroidered patterns. Swarovski crystals were also shimmers of light throughout the pieces. While this season the designer did not present a Mens line, there were nods to the masculine form in the suiting details, lapels and waistlines.  Strong silhouettes also accentuated femininity in the collections swim wear and summer ready ensembles.

There was a mystical and tribal undertone in the SS16 collection where the models walked the runway without shoes, hair looked beautiful in its organized chaos, and faces adorned with silver makeup linings. The color palette reminded of a sunset with a sense of darkness and mystery, just like the unknowns of what Liberatore might see as expressions of a deep and intricate heart.
