Fantasies of Northern Europe drew popularity this season, and Hyosoon Joo of Paul & Alice was no exception. Representing a [recollection] “of childhood adventures,” a girlish comfort draped the collection. Joo infused classic styles with a twist that made it all her own, inspiring the feminine woman in all of us.
With models floating down the runway, Paul & Alice devised a calm, elegant demeanor. Stripes and pleats monopolized the collection, creating depth and a fierce sashay. Wide-leg pants drowned in stripes, and tops donned a distinctive curved hem. Skirts came in all lengths: Mini to knee, below the knee to the floor. Cozy as can be, one particular wool skirt with fuzzy suspenders caught some eye. Paired with white lace tights, the peek-a-boo texture gave some innocence to the playful pieces. Clean and classic blazers made an appearance as well, continuing the life as a staple in any closet. Swaying in flirty sweaters, short jackets, and color-blocked scarves, Paul & Alice models look to have taken a side trip to Wonderland.
The collection’s gradation from dark to light brought a sense of satisfaction, a happy ending to an old memory. Balancing masculine and feminine nuances, Joo recreated femininity and propelled classic styles back into fashion. With a feeling of blissful nostalgia, Paul & Alice brought out another timeless collection.
